Stheart Lifestyle / Olivia Pizzo
Olivia Pizzo / Designer / Detroit, MI / November 8th, 1989
Following your passion isn’t always a straight path; in Olivia Pizzo’s case it was circular, fiery and fast.
Olivia began her journey as a photographer, attending and taking pictures at shows around Michigan, but once she picked up her first hula-hoop at the Detroit Electronic Music Festival in 2008, her attraction to the plastic circle was instant.
Back then the hooping community was much smaller but Olivia found motivation and inspiration among the other performers. Says Olivia, “I dropped the photography thing when hoop dancing was all I could think about and I would spend hours doing it, that turned into me wanting to carry my hoop around at shows instead of a camera. I do miss photography here and there but selling my camera gear and playing with little plastic circles instead was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.” As she practiced and performed her talent expanded and she began fire hooping and fire eating. While her talent isn’t necessarily conventional Olivia said she always had full support from family and friends. “ When I first started my parent’s said I looked like a chicken, but it was something I really enjoyed.” Over the past 5 years she has traveled around the country performing on stage and at events, even winning 2012’s fire hooper of the year.
At the same time she began hooping, Olivia also started making her own custom hoops, and immediately gained a following of customers wanting to buy one. In 2009 she started Harmonic Hoops, an online store where she could sell her hoop creations, in 2010 she expanded her line into the fire hoop business.
While she loved performing and running her online store her ultimate passion took root in 2012 when she started her own clothing line, Harmonic Threads. “In all honesty Harmonic Threads is my full time life more than performing, hooping, and fire spinning is these days. BUT Threads would not be where it is without me being a part of the hoop dance and fire spinning community in the first place.” By not passing up any opportunities that came her way, and keeping her mind open to new possibilities, Olivia now spends around 8 hours a day doing what she loves and sewing her custom hoop dancing and fire spinning costumes. Her dream is to watch her clothing line continue to grow while still keeping up with her hoop business and performances. “It’s definitely a lot to manage but it’s working so far.”
Her advice to people searching for something they love? “Don’t give up and go with the flow, and when I say go with the flow I mean don’t cling on so hard to one thing. I’ve been totally beaten and broken and miserable at times but all the amazing things that come out of it are worth it, it does get better, just keep swimming, swimming and swimming.”

classics.
Rookie(S.) of the year.
Justin Barcia & Joey Savatgy have both been awarded rookie of the year in some of the most stacked classes in supercross history. We couldn’t be more excited to have these guys represent the Stheart lifestyle!
Barcia ended his season with two wins, five podiums, & several top fives. Even though he was unable to finish two main events (Anaheim 2 & Oakland), he walked away with a well earned 4th overall in his first 450SX season. Savatgy overcame several obstacles entering the 250SX West series. Early in the season he learned his team wouldn’t be continuing on after the supercross series, but this didn’t keep Joey from making himself known week after week. His consistently impressive rides paid off with an FMF Racing / KTM backed team for the outdoor season.
Congrats guys, looking forward to the 2013 outdoor season!
